Description
A nod to traditional New England IPAs but brewed with a signature Spearhead style, our NEIPA is the flavourful, full-bodied refresher that you’ve been waiting for. Met on the nose with bright citrus aromatics, NEIPA bursts with intense tropical fruit notes undercut with a punch of pine, resin, and a mild bitterness.
Dry hopped and lightly carbonated, NEIPA boasts a classic New England IPA haze with a light, clean finish on the palate.

473 ml can from the LCBO. Pours a cloudy golden colour with modest-sized white head. Aroma is grains, tropical fruit and pine. Flavour has mango, pineapple, grains and pine. Gentle bitterness in finish. Solid.

A hazed golden ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with resinous hops, light mineral notes, light citrus and butterscotch. In mouth, sweet fruity caramel malt with light buttery notes, resinous floral hops, OK. On tap at brewery.

Mildly hazy golden colour with an amber hue. The head is frothy, bubbly, whitish, with good stay and some foamy lacing. Hoppy nose with some citrus juices. Big citrus zest flavours giving lots of bitterness and dryness. Yeah, not really juicy NEIPA, but a bitter, very dry stronger IPA. Pretty good if this is your thing.

Not your typical NEIPA. UNDECIDED

Can from LCBO. Metallic and boozy, some peach and citrus notes. Not the best NEIPA.

Tall can from LCBO. Pours a massive frothing off-white head that sticks around for a while and has a pale golden slightly hazy appearance. Big thick soapy lacing. Excessive carbonation. Aromas of floral and grassy hops, some citrus and herbal notes as well. Flavours of tropical fruit, citrus and piney notes, a little bit of yeast, not too crazy. Mild hop bitterness. Dry finish. Not too bad.

Can from the lcbo. Hazy orange pour, with a large white head. Dank citrus, light tropical fruit, candied citrus rind. Good mouth feel, good mouth. Medium bitter, dank, candied citrus, and grassy, tropical fruit. A little too heavy for the style I found.

Some citrus on the nose. Tropical fruit flavours on the tongue, along with a bit of caramel malts. Some carbonation issues with this one

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for $4 CDN.Appearance – Fairly hazy dark gold color with honey brown hues. Two fingers of dense fluffy white head with very good staying power. Spotty lacing sticks to the edges of the glass.Smell – A fairly muted nose, predominantly of pineapple and mango with just a little pine resin thrown in. Some light sweet perfumy aromatics as well.Taste – Some sweetness initially with pineapple and mango then more bitter flavors of grapefruit. There’s a slight passionfruit undercurrent in the beer as well. Finishes fairly bitter with pine resin. Something peppery and hot in the finish.Mouthfeel – Medium bodied, appropriate carbonation, finish is dry, and astringent. Booze is somewhat well concealed, but other IPA’s do it better.Overall – Decent IPA, but to me seems more West Coast IPA than NEIPA as the pine resin and lack of sweetness are normally not associated with a NEIPA. Serviceable but weird to name this NEIPA and then have it not be a conventional NEIPA.
